Soccer Field Diagram : 3 Ways To Learn Soccer Formations

When a Soccer field diagram is used to teach the kids soccer formations and various positions, the job of planning and execution becomes very simple. When the kids are younger, say between 4 to 6 years in age, it is better to make them play in small sided soccer, like a 3 v 3, or a 4 v 4 without goalkeepers.
With the kids growing up, they can move to a 5 v 5 together with a goalkeeper. There are a lot of advantages. This will result in kids having a lot more fun, learn the theory of the game better, and get touch the ball many times.
This is a tender age when the kids are almost learning to pass and control the ball. Also start coaching them on various formations and positions. This is the appropriate time to select players as forwards or defenders. Make sure that your players land at their positions in so far as possible.
At some point in time, the number of players will increase along with the size of the field. Then it becomes a little tricky to create formations. However, you must still allot the players different positions and make sure that they are honestly working on playing from those positions.
Once you’ve selected the formations, talk about these with your players. Make it clear to the players the idea behind designating a particular player for a given position from among many of them. This is why a soccer field diagram is so useful. Kids learn better by looking at visual representations. Also, there are players who learn better on field by way of observing to while performing drills or by going through the written text.
There are some general policies and soccer tactics that should be adhered to for every soccer position such as defenders, midfielders, and forwards. These directives make a 2-2-2 formation in a 7 v 7 game possible. These directives are broad but you can modify them to suit your plans for the team.
As an example, you may decide on 3 midfielders instead of 2. You may use your center midfielder to attack furiously on offence or require that he marks the opponent midfielders on defense. You may like your wing defenders to take all throw-ins. There can be a lot of differences.
Apart from the diagram, it is nice to put your thoughts on a piece of paper. This gives the players something to read time and again which ultimately helps them in understanding things better. The parents can also go through the document and visualize your goals for the players and the team as a whole.
Whatever you do, just make sure that you use the field diagram extensively when teaching soccer positions. This can help you save on a lot of time and energy required to explain formations and is therefore a great mechanism.
