Make Your Basketball Drills Fun

If you are a basketball coach, you are probably looking for new skills and basketball drills for kids that you can teach your team. As you likely already know, there are many different techniques and drills you can have the members of your team engage in to improve their basketball skills. When you attempt to build the abilities of a basketball player, you should definitely keep in mind that shooting, dribbling, and passing are often the most important skills a team can be proficient in. Practicing your basketball skills every day will fine tune your game.

One of the most important skills you can build in a young team is definitely ball handling. Most young children often have difficulty dealing with large basketballs due to the fairly heavy weight and large size of most basketballs. If you can keep your drills focused on ball handling, it will be more likely that your team will be able to develop fairly sufficient ball handling skills throughout their practices.

The most important aspect of skill building you can focus your efforts upon is definitely shooting. Many young children often struggle with shooting, so the more you can focus your drills on shooting skills, the more likely your team will benefit from the drills you have them perform. Most children just need to spend time handling the ball in order to become familiar and confident with handling one.

If you would like to build the skills of your team in the area of shooting, have your team play the game of horse as often as they possibly can. When you have your team practice the horse game, make sure they only shoot the basketball from within the three-point range. By limiting your players to the three point line, you can be positive that each shot they take will be a shot they may actually take in a real game.

If you would like to improve the abilities of your team when it comes to passing, you can use the follow technique to increase their ball handling skills. Start this process by working one-on-one with one of your team’s members. Tell your team member that they will be moving from side to side. Also, you should move from side to side as well. As you move from side to side, you are going to pass the ball to the team member. If you can move in random directions, this exercise can be even more challenging and fun as well.

The easiest way to teach an entire team this exercise is done by demonstrating the exercise to your team. Once you have shown the team how to perform the exercise, you can have the entire team split up into groups in order to practice the exercise thoroughly. If each team member practices with many different players, you can be sure they will greatly benefit from this exercise.

After your team has effectively executed their passing exercise, you can move on to dribbling exercises. The best dribbling exercise you can have your team perform is the dribbling exercise of practicing dribbling in between their legs. As your team practices dribbling between their legs, you should make sure that they understand that ball control is the most important aspect of dribbling.

If you have the members of your team engage in all of these different basketball drills for kids, you can be certain that they will develop very well rounded skills. If your entire team becomes proficient in all of these basketball drills, you can be certain that your entire basketball team will be full of well-rounded players. By making sure your team is well rounded, you can make sure your team will be as successful as it can possibly be.
