Older Adults are Enjoying Go-Karting

The topic of race karts may seem a bit outside the scope of interests for say, the baby boomer generation. But, if the truth be known, many older adults are discovering that Go-Karts offer a terrific recreational outlet. One fan is Jay Leno, who is 59 as of this writing. What kid isn’t excited at the prospect of driving? If you’re a boomer with kids or a grandparent with grandkids, you might just want to consider participating in this ideal sport for the entire family. You might want to consider this, if you want to spend some quality time with your kids or grandkids.

Because these cars started out as youngsters’ toys, many people think that go karts are just for youngsters. It’s no surprise that many people aren’t aware that older adults can have a great deal of fun on go karts, when you bear in mind their small size and the unconventional spelling. With karts capable of going as fast as sixty miles an hour, go karting is a lot more popular among adults, although there are junior leagues.

That sort of speed doesn’t feel very fast if you’re driving a car on the interstate, but just try it in a go kart, and you’ll see how fast sixty miles per hour can really be. There’s no suspension in a kart, no windshield, and no enclosed cabin to keep you from feeling the wind. Furthermore, the bottom of a kart is only just off the ground, so you’ll feel every change in the pavement. Going top speed in a go kart feels much faster than the same speed in a Formula 1 racer, even professional racers say.

Corporate outings are turning much more to go karting. With sessions focused on leadership development, staff motivation and team building, some go kart tracks do mostly corporate business. Even business professionals get to cut loose and hit the track in a go kart, with these corporate events dedicated to the metaphor of racing. In fact, karting is quite possibly the fastest growing motor sport.

With kart ownership costing as much as a small car, dedicated go karting can be expensive. This clearly is not just for youngsters - high end go karts can cost more than ten thousand dollars and hit highway speeds. Indoor karts are used on smaller tracks and normally go only about forty miles per hour, while high end racing karts are used only on large outdoor tracks.

It’s like a roller coaster that you can control - the turns and twists on a commercial go kart track can make it seem a lot faster. Indoor karts also have more safety features, for example steel buffers to keep cars from knocking wheels on a tight track - something that could be dangerous at high speeds.

Adults who are curious about driving go karts can just walk into a track, and pay for a session - usually about thirty to forty dollars. However, they’ll have to wear protective clothing and go through a safety talk, since these karts are a lot more powerful than go-karts for kids. It’s also possible for kart enthusiasts to race against one another, with adult racing leagues at most tracks. Each lap takes about twenty seconds, and a normal race is fifteen laps.

Think again, if you’ve been thinking that go karting is just for kids. This is a terrific sport that can be enjoyed by anyone. Many grownups are rediscovering go karting, and having a lot of fun.

The Basketball Clubs Are Grappling With The Current Global Money Predicament In What Is Thought To Be A Terrible Period For Investment Into The Basketball Market Containing A Peek At The Atlanta Hawks.

As the regular season gets hotter, Franchises are battling it out to get a playoff entry and to hold onto their likelihood of winning the NBA Trophy. As the teams play it out on court many of the Franchises have a fight away from the court, with the current market as it is, and the players demands ever growing some of the Franchises are finding it tricky to continue in the current climate. In this case we will look at the Atlanta Hawks, a franchise with a long history and a huge fan base. Many of the current Franchises are produce of huge investment when the Franchise For Sale selections were available to possible backers. This is becoming more strange in the current climate as Franchise For Sale selections are progressively tricky to find especially in the sporting market. A lot of backers are holding onto their investments throughout this period and hoping for a turn in the market. During this period backers will be dealing with their Franchises as a Home Based Franchise, which means that they are reducing their spending and only spending the stark minimum. A Home Based Franchise prides itself on not having a great deal of outgoings and consequently developing the Franchises potential of making a profit. The current Franchises of the sport are taking this approach, as they don’t want a Franchise For Sale sign outside. During many of the Franchises history there has been important turning moments in ownership and financial restructuring as the Atlanta Hawks account will tell you.

When it comes to the Atlanta Hawks, the franchise isn’t exactly rich with NBA tradition. The Atlanta Hawks started as the Tri-City Blackhawks, slected from the cities of Moline and Rock Island Ill., as well as Davenport, IA., beside the Mississippi River. All through the years the franchise had stints in Milwaukee and St. Louis, winning its only team championship in 1958. The Tri-Cities Blackhawks joined the National Basketball League in the 1946-47 season.

In 1968 new owners moved the franchise to Atlanta. Through the off-season of 1972, the Hawks underwent two important alterations. After having shared Alexander Memorial Hall with the Georgia Tech basketball team for five years, the Atlanta Hawks moved into the new 16,500-seat Omni.

On September 3, 1982, the Atlanta Hawks completed a move that would outline their personality for the next decade. The club sent John Drew and Freeman Williams to the Utah Jazz for rookie Dominique Wilkins.

The Atlanta Hawks dipped into the free agent market during the 1996 off-season and came away with one of its biggest captures, both literally and figuratively. Dikembe Mutombo, the 7-2 centre from Zaire, instantly altered Atlanta into one of the finest defensive clubs in the NBA. Mutombo, one of eight new Hawks, guided the Hawks to a 56-26 record and a place in the Eastern Conference semi-finals for the third time in four years under Coach Lenny Wilkens. Mutombo concluded second in the league in blocked shots (3.3 bpg) and in rebounding (11.6 rpg) on his way to achieving the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award for the second time in his career.

The new millennium has left the Atlanta Hawks and their supporters disappointed to say the least. Late in the 2004 season they found reason to believe in the future but a rush of trades has seemed to free up cap room to draw some big name free agents or draft picks in the off-season.

Is Free Poker Online Luck or Skill?

I have been playing poker, both pay and free poker online, for nearly a decade, which to me is quite a long time. During those years I have come across many discussions on whether poker is really a game of skill or luck, hopefully this article will shed some light on the situation.

In my opinion a skilled player is one who can recognize betting patterns, understand flop odds, and percentages, and have a solid concept of strategy and theory. I have noticed however, not matter how well skilled one may be, you must account for variance, and sometimes aggressive, even poor play from others.

I believe in conclusion it is best to assume that poker is a combination of both skill and luck.

The assumption would be based on this conclusion that you have to be both pre flop aggressive, as well as post flop smart. Many times one might find themselves in a position where they made the proper call, yet they find themselves behind due in part to an opponents luck hitting a one or two outer.

This is something that wont be easy to get out of. This is more common in online poker as opposed to playing in a casino, due to the fact that more hands are dealt when playing poker online. Online poker is played at a quicker pace and making choices must me made at speed.

Many individuals feel that they take more bad beats online as opposed to live play. This mathematically can be attributed to the number of hands both seen, and played. As well, there is a tile factor involved when one feels that they are being pushed too hard, or perhaps have suffered a bad beat.

The decision making can become irrational, and typical hands that would be thrown away are now played, or even pushed pre flop out of anger in trying to win back lost funds.

An experienced player will more than likely notice the tendencies of opposing players, and exploit these factors to their gain. To the loosing player the loss seems coincidental and becomes another defeat in their mindset based on luck. The truth of the matter is this is not the case, and the loss is due to the flaws in their technique due to lack of experience.

I believe poker is made up of two primary skills both considered on par to each other: knowledge and fortune. To become a successful poker player one must understand how to engage both of these techniques before taking a seat at a money table. The key to building these fundamental attributes is experience, and the best way to build experience without loosing a pocketful of money in the process is by playing free poker online games.

Free Poker Tournaments - How to Build a Pot with Big Hands

It is a common misconception that by playing your hand slower you will win more games. Sometimes this may be true, but in many cases it isn’t, especially when you have a big hand. I see slow playing happen so much more often than necessary when I am playing both live and free poker tournaments online but I think that playing a more simple tactic works better.

It is definitely dangerous to slow play big hands for many the reasons-not the least of which is getting outdrawn by your opponents. However, there is another even more important reason why slow playing is a bad idea. Slow playing is oftentimes less profitable than playing your hand fast.

Better Betting

If you want to build a big pot with a big hand like a set, you need to be betting. You need to raise pre-flop, bet on the flop, bet on the turn, and fire your last bullet on the river. In other words, you want to gradually get all-in.

You may think you’ll scare away opponents with continuous betting, but this won’t be the case if they hold a reasonably strong hand. Big pots happen when a big hand runs into an even bigger hand. If your opponent folds before you get all your chips in the middle, it simply wasn’t meant to be.

What you don’t want to do is scare your opponents away with ridiculously large bets or raises. Nobody will call you if you bet $800 into an $80 pot. Nobody will call you if you raise it up to $1000 after an opening bet of $40. You want to keep your bets and raises small.

Practice this approach on free poker games and free poker tournaments where you can get a feel for what’s OK without messing it up bigtime with proper money!

You want to convince your opponent that he or she may possess a strong enough hand to stay in the game. You want your opponent to make mistakes.

Keep your fellow players pot committed. Avoid betting big and announcing to the table that you have the best hand.

There is also a downside to not betting and just checking. Obviously, you can get outdrawn on. That’s a common concern.

However, checking also fails to build up the pot. You may eventually get your opponent to bet at you, but you he or she may just check behind-and thus, you’ll be losing some profit from winning one less bet.

Exceptions to the rule

With most things in life, there is always an exception to the rule and there are times that slower playing is going to be advantageous to you. For example, if you flop a royal flush, straight flush, full hand or any other very strong hand, you are pretty certain that you are not going to be beat, so give your fellow players as much opportunity as you can to get their next best hand.

When playing against aggressive or loose players then its worth playing slow, as they are likely to bet as players check. Make the most of their aggressive play.

Yet, in most cases, you do want to bet out or raise. You want to build big pots slowly by betting every chance that you get. As I say practice playing free poker games and free poker tournaments sites where you can get a feel for what will work and what won’t. That way when you get into a higher stakes cash situation you’ll play it right and hopefully scoop it up!

Kids Soccer Drills: Uncover The Biggest Mistakes Coaches Make

What if I told you that coaches do make such mistakes in Kids Soccer Drills that have the potential to destroy a team and make it a loser. Yes, that’s correct. Many of you must be thinking that how can there be something so big that can destroy a team. Okay then, let it be known that reasons are countless.

You will have to work very watchfully and advantageously in designing soccer drills for kids. You need to understand the psychology of the kids. Exchange words with them discussing things from their point of view. But it’s really sad that a lot of coaches are still untrained to get used to this. They simply close their eyes to the dissimilarity between teaching adult players and kids.

So there you have it; top faults of coaches that bring the teams to a point, from where it’s near impossible to get back on to the winning track.

1. A lot of them consider their jobs as casual work. They don’t arrange the drills, refuse to plan their sessions, and are always late in getting to the field. All these are not only bad traits but put off the kids too. Kids take soccer very seriously and so should you. Plan the youth soccer drills in advance. Put together all kinds of equipments which you would need to accomplish the drills.

Kids Soccer Drills

Don’t be late. Always reach the field before the kids. Well in fact, grace the filed with your presence when kids reach. It has the advantage of finding some extra time to practice the drills and plan other things.

2. Before the sessions, when the coaches impart instructions for kids soccer drills, they get so lost in it so as to loose track of the time. Have you ever considered how bad that can be? You must realize that players are more interested in playing than hearing. Always speak for less amount of time. These sessions should be used to boost the confidence of the kids as well as motivate them.

It is crucial that you do not interrupt the kids when they are playing. If there is something that you need to tell the kids, wait for the session to end. Also, observe the kids from outside when they are playing.

3. Some coaches tend to get emotional or abusive with the players. In soccer drills for youth, both the behaviors are unacceptable. It is never a good idea to show your emotions on the field. It is Ok if kids make mistakes. Always remember that they are young. You should not take it seriously and get offensive with the players.

In such a situation, you disengage the kids from the game and also create problems for yourself. Soccer is a game of the intelligent. When the kids understand this, they feel inspired.

Stay away from these issues in kids soccer drills. If you need more information on what the behavior of the coaches should be like, join our youth soccer coaching community. You will be amazed by the rise in your knowledge.

A Review of Timex GPS Watches

Enjoying an active lifestyle often leads one to the great outdoors and the need for Timex GPS Watches. Nature’s playground is vast and breathtaking, filled with blue skies and natural beauty. Yes, pristine areas can be found, no matter what we hear on the news. The outdoors has a hundred wonders that buildings and towns and cities will never provide, and these are the thrills that outdoorsmen go for. Bikers, trekkers, joggers, and mountaineers will find themselves going back time and again to the whatever activity calls you to enjoy the great outdoors, you are likely to worry about being lost. It’s a paradox; the great outdoors is great because it’s big, but it could be unsafe for precisely the same reason. Ending up lost while climbing or running or just wandering, only to be stumbled over later on by search parties is an event most of us strive to avoid. Another great model to consider is Timex Ironman T5G311 Bodylink GPS Watch.

For a lot of us, GPS systems are a practical solution. Modern GPS systems can identify where you are on any continent with exactness down to just centimeters. These handy instruments are rendered yet more convenient by adding them to watches, like Timex GPS Watches. Configured as a watch, the GPS reaches it’s full potential. Ideally, GPS devices can be relied upon to calculate and display the location of anyone. By setting it in a watch, the system’s usefulness is finally achieved. People almost never remove their watches, so it is as handy a device as any for up-to-the-minute monitoring. Additionally, people are unlikely to decide not to bring their watches, so this can give you a reasonable emergency function for people who suddenly want to find out where the heck they are.

Thanks to the fact that Timex GPS Watches are digital, they could be stuffed full with other features. Seeing as these watches are most often worn by fitness and nature enthusiasts, metrics like heart rate, distance traveled, direction, recorded lap times, and speed are able to be computed and displayed. The Timex Bodylink Ironman Triathlon Watch is an appliance which employs all these options. It keeps a watch on your heart rate with the help of a strap which fits across your chest. An arm band connects the FM signal generator to your arm. It makes an individual-sized FM field, which has the ability to interface information sent and received by the watch. Overall, this GPS device is a satisfactory set-up for a runner who is keeping and eye on his or her performance. Another nice option is Timex Ironman T5G311 Bodylink GPS Watch.

You may presume that computerized devices with a large range of applications should be chunky and slightly distracting to wear. The ever-progressing marvels of miniaturization have made it possible for GPS watches to be produced in practically the same dimensions as quite a few other “regular” watches. A GPS watch might be slightly larger than a regular watch, but this insignificant issue is outweighed by its potential uses. For instance, Timex GPS watches are diminutive enough to appear unobtrusive for the arms of large men as well as small women. For that matter, the Unisex Trail Runner device is small and light enough to be nearly unnoticeable even while you’re involved in some hard-core exercise, and it looks good on anyone of either gender. Another good item to look into is the Timex Ironman T5G311 Bodylink GPS Watch. Even if you aren’t an athelete, Timex GPS watches and other like devices can offer you security. You’re never truly lost!

The Teams Of The World Famous NHL Are Surviving The Current Global Economy Difficulties In What Is A Terrible Period For The Economy All Over The Globe And Also A Concise History Of The Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Teams Of The World Famous NHL Are Coping With The Existing Global Economy Difficulties In What Is A Poor Period For The Economy All Over The Globe And Also A Short History Of The Toronto Maple Leafs.

As the teams are on a break for Winter Olympics, the numerous Franchises at home dare to picture triumph and the prospect of lifting the famous Cup. We will look at the Franchises and deliver details of how they started from a Franchise For Sale, promoted all over the globe to being one of the most important Franchises in America today. The American market has been concerned for lots of years, from lots of clubs discovering it demanding to pay players and contracts, to a lot of clubs being able to spend millions of dollars on prospective talent. At this existing period the market is more unworried as great sums of dollars are being put away for the improvement, as economic doubts have affected the Hockey league sports market. All of the Franchises are diminishing their spending and working with their acquired possessions, which is having a considerable advantage on the desire of a Franchise For Sale on the market. A lot of sporting financiers for lots of years have thought of their Franchises as a Home Based Franchise, the sporting financiers work with their franchise extremely hard and they take it to all places with them. This is comparatively like any other Home Based Franchise within the existing market and as a result extremely essential to a prospective sporting financiers looking for a Franchise For Sale in the market. The backer will have the pledge that the franchise has been well controlled and cared for as if it were a Home Based Franchise.

Here is a small history of one NHL Franchises that has had massive success over the years containing changes in names and playing staff.

The Toronto Maple Leafs were founded in November of 1917 as the Toronto Arenas, replacing the Quebec Bulldogs as one of the four clubs in the then brand new National Hockey League. Lawyer Eddie Livingstone was the originator and the Arenas played their first game on December 19, 1917. Despite winning the Stanley Cup in the league’s first year, the Toronto Arenas would find it hard and in 1919 would go on to become the Toronto St. Patricks. But in 1927 a new business headed by Conn Smythe and Hugh Aird bought the franchise and renamed them as the Maple Leafs. They also started at the Maple Leaf Gardens, where the Leafs would begin playing in the 1931-32 season. Their first season in the new building also saw them win the Stanley Cup, winning over the New York Rangers in three consecutive games.

The last half of the 1940’s would be dominated by the Toronto Maple Leafs. The “Blue and White” would win four consecutive championships from 1947-51 winning Montreal and Detroit, twice each. 1955 saw the end of a Maple Leafs era as Conn Smythe stepped down as general manager of the franchise.

By 1960, the Maple Leafs were back in the Stanley Cup finals, beaten to the Montreal Canadiens. After a ten year drought, the Leafs brought home the cup in 1962 by defeating the Chicago Blackhawks. This win started a streak of three consecutive championships and a total of four for the decade of the 1960s. Meanwhile on the ownership front the franchise switched hands to Harold Ballard. Even though he was charged with tax evasion and spent a year in jail, Ballard would go on to run the Maple Leafs with an iron fist for the next two decades.

April 1990 saw the passing away of Harold Ballard, leaving the vulnerable Toronto Maple Leafs team in a mess. As the front office plights was being worked on, the Leafs were a struggling team on the ice. 1991 saw the arrival of veteran hockey executive Cliff Fletcher as the president and general manager of the team.

By 2002 Pat Quinn was in control of hockey business (as general manager and coach) and the Leafs were not capable to re-sign free agent star goalie Curtis Joseph. As Joseph signed with the Red Wings, the team quickly turned around and signed Eddie Belfour and did not really miss a beat in the regular season. But the playoffs were a different account as the Leafs lost in the first round to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Why Having Big Name Professional Athletes to Endorse You is Huge Business for Companies

Not all professional athletes make a lot of money such as those that participate in smaller non revenue accumulating sports. In order to be able to be a professional athlete full time, a lot of these athletes have to rely on the products and paychecks they receive from their sponsors and advertisers. Other athletes, that are constantly in the press however, make a lot of money playing their sport and sometimes more from their sponsorship contracts. One of the earliest athletes to really do this was NBA player, Michael Jordan who used his basketball skills to promote several products in addition to apparel, toys, items and even basketball videos with his likeness on them.

Wherever there is room to promote a sponsor, they will find a way to do it whether it is on the helmet of a professional NASCAR racer or in the form of a temporary tattoo to professional beach volleyball player Gabrielle Reece. Athletes are offered great package deals to promote a certain brand as a sort of spokesperson and in exchange they get monetary and product compensation. For the lesser known athletes, this is very helpful to offer them the needed income to be able to train full time. For other highly compensated athletes in sports as professional baseball, basketball and football players it is just icing on the cake.

Michael Jordan was one of the first professional athletes to really be endorsed by various sponsors and he ended up bringing in more from those endorsements than he did playing basketball. Certain businesses saw the complete star power in Michael Jordan and knew he could make their product be noticed with him promoting it. One example was Gatorade which was a sports drink that had been around for quite a while but when they got Michael Jordan to endorse Gatorade, sales rose quickly and it became the best selling sports drink.

Now younger professional athletes that are coming into the game see product endorsements as part of the entire deal when they sign professionally. Many new athletes that are confident in themselves and their ability to represent a product even hold out for multi million dollars endorsement these days. One example of that youthful professional player is Le Bron James. He made it into the headlines for his basketball abilities and noted to be the next Jordan when he was in high school playing in Akron, Ohio. Now he is one the largest paid athletes with multiple endorsements.

The biggest grossing professional athlete to receive the largest amount of endorsement deals ever is PGA professional, Tiger Woods. As an individual athlete, he is not paid by salary but rather by performance and the number of large golf tournaments he wins. Because he has been such a high profile, successful and marketable player, his endorsements deals are earning him several million each year on top of his golf earnings. He also has recently lost many of these sponsors with the recent scandals of his many infidelities.

Kids Soccer Drills: Who Else Wants To Warm Up

It’s sad to know that people fail to appreciate the importance of warming up in Kids Soccer Drills. As a coach, I just cannot emphasize enough that warming up before sessions is not just mandatory but also a great way to kick start your training sessions. In youth soccer drills, coaches fail to take this aspect into consideration. The consequences are then faced by the players when they suffer injuries in training.

You will find some great tips on warming up your team before practice sessions. The team should be guided to use such body movements that have the effect of warming up all muscles. This is by far the best way to activate all the body parts. Rigorous sessions can result in stiffness and cramping of the muscles.

Tip 1: First and foremost the players should jog for 5-7 minutes. It is highly recommended to start with a light jog and then eventually sprint. Check that the pulse rate in this reaches 120 beats per minute. Still, measured growth is preferred. After this, the players should move their legs back and forth for around 10 minutes each. Players should then finish by energetically stretching their body greater than 20 yards.

Tip 2: When we talk about this active stretching over 20 yards, a few warm up exercises of its own must go along with it. Like the players can bounce backward and forward. You can also teach them cross stepping. Also teach them high-knee carioca. These must be executed as if sprinting.

Soccer Coaching Drills

Running towards the back also accounts a very efficient warm up drill in soccer drills for kids. Still, in order to perform it, the proper way to do it is to jerk up the heels to the butt. No doubt, it is a little difficult to practice it this way but there’s no other way of correctly doing it.

Tip 3: There are various other warm up drills in kids soccer drills that build up the energy for practice sessions. The players can be taught to hop with swings and loops. These result in giving an extra edge to the skipping exercises. You can also make them cross-over skip. Quick Hip Swings is somewhat difficult to practice but it highly useful and a tried and tested technique to warm up the body.

Subsequently the players can be made to do long shuffle with spins midway. Tell the players to practice backward and forward leg swings. It’s a very efficient activity and helps in toning the body. Similarly high leg forward and backward is very useful too.

Tip 4: Stretching should be adequate and correctly executed. Stretch hinging is most beneficial for the legs. Guarantee that all kids work out their hamstring, groin, calf muscles, and quadriceps without missing any of these. Stretching not only prevents injury but also increases the range of the muscles.

In soccer drills for youth, another important thing to ensure is that kids don’t do too much of anything. The kids may get injured needlessly because of this, as they tend to do so only in over excitement.

In kids soccer drills, you have to guarantee that kids attend the warm up sessions before the drills as you are now equipped with all the necessary information. You’ll find lots and lots of articles and news like this on our youth soccer coaching community. Register now to enjoy the benefits.

The Clubs Of The NBA Are Tussling With The Existing World Financial Predicament In What Is Held To Be A Bad Phase For Investment Into The Sports Sector Comprise of A Glance At The New Jersey Nets.

As the race for the playoffs places heats up, Franchises are playing it out to get a playoff position and to clutch onto their chances of winning the NBA Cup. As the franchises battle it out on the basketball court many of the Franchises have a fight away from basketball, with the present market as it is, and the players contracts ever growing some of the Franchises are discovering it hard to continue in the existing environment. In this case we will look deeply into the New Jersey Nets, a franchise with a lengthy history and a huge support group. Lots of the existing Franchises are constructed from enormous deals when the Franchise For Sale choices were available to potential sponsors. This is becoming more surprising in the existing market as Franchise For Sale choices are gradually hard to find, specially in the sporting climate. A lot of sponsors are holding onto their investments throughout this phase and hoping for a turnaround in the market. During this phase sponsors will be dealing with their Franchises as a Home Based Franchise, which means that they are dropping their costs and only using the minimum. A Home Based Franchise prides itself on not having a great deal of costs and consequently building on the Franchises ability of making a profit. The existing Franchises of basketball are taking this method, as they don’t want a Franchise For Sale mark outside their stadium. During many of the Franchises olden times there has been important turning instances in tenure and financial reform as the New Jersey Nets story will inform you of.

The New Jersey Nets franchise has endured its share of worries since it first took the floor in 1967. One of 11 primary American Basketball Association Franchises, the franchise has played in six arenas in the New York metropolitan area. Along the way, the franchise soared to the top of the ABA on the back of Julius “Dr. J” Erving, then fell to the cellar upon entrance into the NBA. The late 1980s and early 1990s saw the Nets’ slow rise to respectability in the NBA’s Eastern Conference and, following a 43-39 mark in 1997-98 and an appearance in the playoffs, the franchise appears to be back on solid ground.

The New York press turned Julius Erving into an overnight media phenomenon, and “Dr. J” turned the Nets into a championship-calibre team and a box-office bonanza. He was surrounded by a young, but talented supporting cast.

The New York Nets expected to enter the NBA as a solid contender, and they bought Nate “Tiny” Archibald from Kansas City to improve the teams backcourt. The company fell apart, however, before the season begun, when a salary clash blew up between Erving and Roy Boe. The Nets’ owner ended the clash by selling his star player to the Philadelphia 76ers for $3 million.

The New Jersey Nets experienced a franchise-best season through their 2001-02 campaign. With a franchise-record 52-win season, New Jersey was Atlantic Division Champions and Eastern Conference Champions and made their first appearance in the NBA Finals. The Nets good fortune started with the trade for All-Star point guard Jason Kidd in July 2001 and rose from there.

After defeating Indiana, Charlotte and Boston, respectively, the New Jersey Nets were defeated by the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals. Even with the beating, 2001-02 was a miraculous season and will go down in franchise history as the best ever.
