Salt Water Angling can be one of the activities that can help bring your family together. Salt Water Angling has no age limits and everyone has fun! It can be a way to connect the generation gap in the family and a way to educate the family about water safety, conservation and the environment.
A person believes it’s necessary to have a boat to go angling. But you don’t need to own a boat to go angling. These are just usually the months you will have the best fishing of your life.

One of the most popular is Steelhead fishing in Northern Wisconsin Attractions. The steelheads are known to be shy when they come into the warm waters to breed. They are comfortable with the depth and safety of the big lake but it is necessary to come into the tributaries to breed. Sports fish are hard to catch because of their being shy. You will need to be confident to move quietly and slowly and with focus to have them take the bait.
Just 2 of the strains are found in the Ganaraska and the Chambers Creek tributaries. These two have later winter/early spring spawns that typically occur between late February and -April. At times the spawns are earlier depending on when it starts to warm up. At the earliest warming the fish will begin to arrive.
You get their hook as close to the bottom of the tributary as possible. Many use a bobber to keep it just off the bottom and move it to the face of the Steelhead (if visible or by luck if not). WhenIf the fish takes the hook be prepared to run with it for a while since it will take off. The fish is bigger than you might have thought it should be and if you aren’t lucky it will run your line, break it and be gone. An 18 pound steelhead can break a 10 lb. line pretty quickly unless you are prepared to run with it until you can get enough drag on the reel to wear it out.
Wisconsin has many Lake Michigan tributary streams that feed fine steelhead runs. The most experienced streams for sports fishing along Lake Michigan include the Kewaunee, Root, Oconto, Manitowoc, Menominee, Milwaukee, East Twin, Peshtigo, Ahnapee, and West Twin rivers. Smaller steelhead streams include the Pigeon, Little, Pike, Menomonee, and Kinnickinnic rivers; Stony, Oak, Heins, Sauk, Whitefish Bay, Fischer, Silver, and Reibolts creeks.
